When I first walked up to the front door PGA Pro Pat Perez’ house in Scottsdale Arizona I noticed the American flag flies on one side of the door, and the KCCO flag on the other side. Pat answered the door and brought us inside.
Revenge of the Nerds was playing on the TV in the living room. He’d turned most of the living room area into a putting green, in fact.
“You guys want a beer? I got a bunch of steaks with baked potatoes because mashed potatoes are for pussies. Anyway, make yourselves at home.”
We knew this guy was one of us.
Pat Perez is golf’s everyman. He throws back beers on his off day, smokes every now and then, and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Something any tour pro will tell you about Pat that most don’t know is that Pat also attends more charity golf tournaments than any other player on tour.
