No matter how you slice it, going to school is a money trap that you’re never gonna escape. It costs an insane amount of money to pay for tuition, but you need that degree (or several, because a Bachelor of whatever isn’t good enough anymore) to get a good job that’s going to pay you enough to live, enjoy and pay back all those student loans, never mind all the debt you incurred just trying to not starve while at college. It’s a fucking rip off, is what it is.
If you’re lucky enough to find work while you’re in school and you have the time to work enough to survive, that’s great for you, but not everyone is so lucky. There was a time, you were able to work a summer job and some part time work during the year and you’d just make it. That’s how I did it. Now, that’s not reality. The workloads are too high and employers aren’t really interested in temp workers that come and go as their schedules allow.
