Yesterday, we wrote a story about a man named Justin Fitch. Justin is an honored veteran who served our country as a U.S. Army Major. Justin is also dying of stage 4 colon cancer.
But instead of focusing on himself in his final days, he has committed the rest of his life towards ending veteran suicide for so many soldiers who are suffocating from PTSD. His mission was to team up with a veteran non-profit called Active Heroes so that they could build a retreat, a safe-harbor, for military families who need help and support, so that they might actually heal… before it’s too late. For veterans struggling with PTSD, this is more than quality time in nature – it’s a Godsend.
So, we told Justin’s story. We gave his cause a megaphone when he became too weak to speak. And we set the goal higher than ever before: $78,000. It was exactly enough to build one cabin. Chive Charities had already donated $25,000 from theChive Fund, and the rest was in the hands of the Chivers. And as always your generosity blew the goal out of the water.
In one day, 6,000 misfits from around the world raised a quarter of a million dollars. It’s unprecedented. It’s insane. It’s going to build Justin’s dream cabin. And then two more just like it.
