In the series “24”, torture seems to be Jack Bauer’s go-to when it comes to getting information out of a terrorist. Thanks to the show, students at the US Military Academy thought this was common practice. They would often ask when it’s appropriate to shoot prisoners in the leg or break their fingers. The answer was obviously never since torture has been proven ineffective. A man will admit to being Santa Claus if it means you’ll stop pulling his fingernails. Several Generals complained to Fox about the misinformation, but looking at how the show’s torture continued, they seem to have went unheard.
