Turning 18 is one of those marquee years that represents a young person’s entrance into early adulthood. So when Gracie Chastain turned 18, her mother Kim had been concocting something special for quite some time. A 17-year secret reveal to be exact.
When baby Gracie turned 1, Kim bought a lock for her, a time capsule if you will, where she stored presents gathered from friends and family that included memorabilia, jewelry, saving bonds, and other valuable memories over the years.
The time capsule was kept a secret from Gracie, Kim explained, “We’ve moved a couple of times since we did the time capsule but for the last ten years, it has been in the back of a large storage room in our basement buried beneath boxes of books. My kids never go in there because they think it’s creepy, so it went unnoticed all these years.”
When the big day arrived, Kim took out a camera to record Gracie opening her secret stash of goodies which she has since uploaded to Facebook, where the story garnered over 71K reactions and 100K shares, with people from all over tipping their hats to Kim for pulling off the surprise reveal.
