I’m told there are a lot of KCCO Flags flying in the small town of Hutto, TX today. The small community has made the national spotlight after the Chivers sandblasted another goal.
A young boy named DJ, three-time cancer survivor at only 4 years-old, had a dream of one day playing his favorite sport, baseball. But there was no field nearby, much less the kind of specialized diamond needed for disabled children.
Chive Charities stepped up first with a $200,000 donation to help build the field – our biggest donation ever.
And then the Chivers tripled a $50,000 goal in 24 hours, raising $150,000 in record time to complete funding on the project… and then some. The total funds raised now stands at $350,000.

KCCO Ability Field will support more than just baseball. Disabled kids from miles around will also be able to safely play soccer, kickball, and flag football. The community will be able to use it for various fundraisers and outdoor gatherings.
Lastly, DJ’s mother, Ashlei, wrote us today and said this:
“What you guys are doing is amazing. I’m not the best with words. I wish I was so I could express just how wonderful and great and appreciative we are of everything.
… There is a little boy in a wheel chair who would play with us but he hated getting his wheelchair wheels dirty. I keep thinking of how happy he will be when he doesn’t have to go home and clean his wheels anymore.”
Well done again, Chivers.
