Being uber-famous certainly has its pros and cons. On the upside you’re are famous and revered, and on the downside, you no longer have your anonymity. But one thing that likely falls somewhere in between the spectrum of good and bad is how almost every fan will come to know you for something so memorable that they’ll end up shouting that word or phrase to (or at) you almost every time they see you in public.
BBC Radio 1 uploaded a series of videos on their TikTok account with actors answering exactly that question.
When asked why his thoughts on the matter, celeb expert Michael Sington declared that, “When encountering a celebrity, don’t blurt out a well-known line from a movie they’ve acted in. They’ve heard that over and over again, and it gets very old. What they never get tired of is a compliment.”
Instead, Mike advised a softer touch to win the celeb’s affection: “Simply be kind and pleasant and compliment them on their work: ‘I thought you were extraordinary in such-and-such a movie,’ or ‘I really admire the work you do, I’ve been following your career for years.’ Stars, just like anyone, simply want to meet a nice person, saying nice things. There’s no need for gimmicks.”
