Well, Top Gun: Maverick fucking rules.
Not to be too much of an insufferable film geek (which is basically impossible for me), but I am truly shocked by how great Maverick is as a film. What could have easily been an awful nostalgia retread is instead a movie that’s made me cry each time I watch it (Val Kilmer man… what a scene), a balls-to-the-walls action epic, and a perfect emulation of Tony Scott’s visual style from 36 years ago.
So, it got me thinking: What other 1980s films should get a badass sequel? We asked y’all on our Instagram page, and… Yeah, in an ideal world, we’d leave most of these movies alone, but look around. We live in a nightmare world, so we might actually see these sequels at some point.
(And one last thing… These are y’alls picks, not mine. If you think one of these is a horrible idea, don’t blame me.)
