For those of you who are unaware, you used to be able to buy music at the store. It was an audio entity that existed in a physical format. Crazy, right?
No “cloud.” No “Spotify Premium.” Leave that spaceman stuff at home.
Machines carved sound waves into circular pieces of vinyl. You’d place a needle in the grooves and, when played at the correct RPM, sound was produced (electricity, amplifiers and speakers are all involved, but let’s keep it simple for the kids).
These discs only had two sides, so if you wanted more than 45 worth of music you needed to have multiple records. Thus, the double album was born.
Here are my favorites. I’d love to hear yours in the comments.
