He had a minister father and a strict, religious upbringing
Tosh is known for some of the raunchiest and most offensive comedy in the game, but he was raised in a strict Presbyterian household. “I got a steady diet of ‘kids should be seen and not heard,'” he said. “I knew to stay away from a scary dad.” His father eventually retired from the clergy and became one of Tosh’s biggest supporters — he even managed his son’s Myspace account back when it was a thing. Today, Tosh says his relationship with his father is stronger than ever, and credits his stern upbringing with steering him towards a career in comedy. “Don’t keep the reign too tight on your son or he’ll grow up to be a comic,” he said.
