Brown Pelican
In the early 70’s brown pelicans were almost completely absent from the U.S.A. partially thanks to the pesticide DDT. DDT being introduced to their food chain resulted in thinner egg shells which were easily crushed when mothers would sit or stand on them to try to keep them warm. Thanks to the Endangered Species Act along with great efforts to tighten up pesticide laws, all regional populations of Brown Pelicans were delisted in 2009.
