Sarah Ivermee’s son, Freddie, was diagnosed with profound deafness at 3-months-old and received cochlear implants in 2014. 2 via: Facebook Sarah’s friend mentioned that her daughter disliked her hearing aids because they made her feel different than her friends. She suggested the simple addition of nail stickers and just like that an idea was born. 3 via: Facebook Ivermee started a company called ‘Lugs’ that specialises in low cost, custom-made decorations for hearing devices. She got the name ‘Lugs’ from the word being another term for ear lobes.
