I was still a kid the first time I saw The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001. The only knowledge I had of Tolkien at the time was from watching The Hobbit (1977) animated movie. I remember walking out of the theatre completely dumbfounded by how incredible and epic that movie was (and is). By the end of that very same week, I had collected the entire Lord of the Rings book trilogy and became an instant fan.
The story, characters, and world Tolkien created has left an immeasurable impact on our culture to this day. Not only are the movies just a shit-ton of fun to watch, but the continuous character development and interactions also taught us great lessons that I think we could all internalize.
