Watching the horrifically boring semifinals of the College Football Playoffs last night got me to thinking: What if the NCAA football playoffs consisted of 16 teams instead of 4? Not only would we have more games, but we would be better equipped to truly judge who the best teams in the nation are. After seeing Notre Dame and Clemson get blown out, I could only wonder if the same two teams would make it to the title game if the road to get there had a few more detours. Unfortunately we do not have a 16-team playoff but at least we can look at some of the biggest “what if’s” the sports world has ever given us.
