Folks are extremely passionate about their fast food, especially their regional fast food. Here in Austin, the debate between Whataburger and In-N-Out has people arguing at each other until they’re out of breath (which doesn’t take long for the biggest supporters).
The strong opinions exist because, at the end of the day, it’s about more than food. It’s about hometown pride. For Austin, it’s about the true Texans (Whataburger) beating all those Californians (In-N-Out) who keep movin’ here and cloggin’ the roadways with their damn Priuses.
USA Today recently polled Americans from all over the country to find the top 10 best regional fast food joints. The poll defines regional fast food as a chain restaurant that serves fast food tasty enough to be nationwide, but is only available in specific regions of the country. Here are the results:
