The minute Edward Norton walked into our New York office I immediately thought to myself, “let’s get the man in front of the microphone before he realizes what a horrible mistake he’s made.” And yet Edward took his time getting to know John and I, prying into details about theCHIVE, our incredible community, and especially our involvement with charity. This philanthropic culture is what really seemed to peek Ed’s (too early to call him “Ed”?) interest. As a matter of fact, we would soon learn that he saw a world of opportunity between theCHIVE Nation and his own fundraising platform Crowdrise where we could kickstart a change the world desperately needs.
Our conversation was wildly engaging from the get-go. Of course tales from the set of his most iconic films like Fight Club, Primal Fear, Birdman, & Sausage Party were all par for the course. But we also heard stories from his own upbringing, as well as learned what kickstarted his passion for philanthropy in the first place. All in all, having a chance to chat for hours with a 3-time Oscar nominated actor was beyond an honor, but to learn what a terrific guy Ed is made it all the more special.
