As you may’ve noticed the $1.5 billion Powerball drawing is today and it’s causing quite a stir. Everybody, including ourselves, are dissecting and analyzing every aspect of these winnings and what it all means. Some are even going a bit further and using math to figure out potential bigger implications of this historic jackpot.
Now a meme has been circulating on Facebook which declares that whoever wins the jackpot could actually “solve US poverty” by splitting the $1.5 billion with the rest of the U.S. population. According to math, the meme-creator claimed that, with roughly 300 million people in the country, sharing the money would give every person $4.33 million. Sadly, people often believe what they want to hear.
