Throwing a punch in a football game makes very little sense to me. I mean, why hit someone in the head/face when they are LITERALLY wearing a helmet that is designed to protect their HEAD AND FACE!? That being said, I do love a good brawl during garbage time of a game. Players let their tempers flare, the winning team tends to get a little chippy with their opponent, and then the fists fly.
