Kids can say some creepy shit. I don’t care how tough you are or how little you believe in ghosts, when a three-year-old child politely waves and says “hello, friend,” to the empty corner of the room behind you, it’ll turn your veins to ice. From The Shining to The Sixth Sense to ParaNorman, it’s a pop-culture trope for kids to see spirits or entities the adults can’t. But do kids really have a deeper connection to the other side? A connection that slowly wanes as we grow older? Or is it all a product of their overactive imaginations? In the words of Michael Scott, I’m not superstitious. But I’m a little stitious. And some of these spooky stories about kids apparently communicating with the dead, if they’re true, are big enough coincidences to make even more stitious.
