This happens to me occasionally: I have to interview someone before I really know them or their work.
For instance I interviewed Bryan Cranston before I had seen Breaking Bad. That one stings a bit.
For the interview with ‘The Sandlot’ guys, we embraced it. Here’s the backstory. Chauncey Leopardi, Patrick Renna, and Tom Guiry were in town for a special screening of their classic film at a baseball field. They stopped by HQ for a beer and to look around. They also met John. We figured that while they were here, we might as well shoot a video. So I ended up doing it, even though I had never seen the movie. The guys were great and had some beers and left. (I think they went out for more drinks after but I was too exhausted from playing a very intense game of kickball to attend. Also I don’t think I was invited.)
