The name Stephen King is synonymous with fear, growing up, and unnatural occurrences, and there’s a damn good reason why. While most will chalk up his creations of Pennywise, Annie Wilkes and Carrie as the results of an overactive imagination, most don’t know that he’s actually lived a life full of horrible events.
Growing up with his mother and brother, and living through an abandonment from his father, he also lived through some harrowing events that shaped his psyche, including some that were the basis for Stand By Me.
While childhood trauma is never welcome, it sure gave us some amazingly scary stories to chill our bones.
