Anora is a look into the world of hustlers in g-strings, money-belts, high-heels, and beautiful bodies. All to entice you down the rabbit hole of lust and monetary pleasure. Mikey Madison delivers tenfold. She absolutely kills every scene, from the sexy to the quiet, from powerful to helpless and vulnerable. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Baker sure knows how to pick em.

It’s a fantastic follow-up to Red Rocket that once again shows how interested director, Sean Baker is in the psyche of ex workers and people from all walks of life and how he can capture a story that feels authentic and almost documentary-like to ground everybody.

I truly didn’t think this film was going to be as stressful as it was. I have a love/hate feeling with “stressful” scenes. The stress stayed with us the entire time and I could not enjoy myself in some instances – albeit, exactly what Banker most likely wanted. Big Uncut Gems vibes here as the intensity and lack of communication in each scene began to build.
