So, for movie weirdos like me, this was a very big week. Not because of anything in theaters, but because Michael Mann’s crime epic Heat was released on a 4K Ultra HD disc. I picked it up, and if you have an HDR-capable TV, it’s beautiful.
But watching Heat again really had me thinking: What is the best movie of the 1990s?
It’s basically an impossible question to choose one answer for, but we asked it on our Instagram page anyway. The sheer number of different answers is pretty amazing and proof that the 1990s was an absolutely killer decade for movies.
(For the record… I have no idea how to answer this question myself. You could ask me every day of the week for an answer, and I’d almost certainly spit out seven different movies depending on my mood. For my own money, Heat is definitely in the conversation, if it wasn’t for the existence of Goodfellas I’d easily call it the best crime movie of the 1990s at minimum.)
