If you haven’t seen any of the amazing Black Mirror series on Netflix, stop what you’re doing and right that wrong. It is The Twilight Zone for the modern world; a cautionary satire on the perils of technological advancement that forces us to reflect on how much technology has influenced our lives (the name Black Mirror itself is a double entendre referencing both the series’ dark reflection on society as well as the smartphone screens lining our pockets, which resemble a black mirror).
Like The Twilight Zone, each of the 13 episodes stand independently of the others, so you can pick it up at any point and enjoy it without having to commit to a lengthy season. There’s one about a world where everyone rates each other with a 5-star system, one where people receive eye implants allowing them to record and rewatch every moment of their lives, and one where a computer whiz hacks into a teenage boy’s laptop camera and threatens to release a video of him masturbating unless he does what he’s told.
To build excitement for the upcoming fourth season, Netflix has been releasing a steady trickle of short trailers. The latest one, titled “Metalhead”, was just dropped on YouTube with the ominous caption “BEWARE OF DOGS”. Watch it below:
