To call Alex Trebek a fixture of television is to be humble about his enormous career.
He was the host of Jeopardy! for 35 years straight. In that time, he set a Guinness World Record for “most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter (same program),” a number that came out to 6,829 episodes, and that was back in 2014 (the 8,000th episode was aired this year). In 2017, he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. And while he won six Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Game Show Host, they also gave him a lifetime achievement award in 2011.
What a lifetime it was.
