If you think it’s unfair that a man who has dedicated his life to serving our country and saving the lives of others should befall an illness that cuts his own life short in his prime, that’s because it is unfair. And while there’s no way to tip the balance of that scale, we must try. In the video below Justin says, “Take the last recorded words of a dying man to heart… please join the fight.”

Doctors feared Justin wouldn’t make the July 1st launch of this campaign; to see what happens when a small army of laptops open to read his story and respond in kind, a thousand points of light across the United States working in chorus to help one man grasp his dream in the final moments. It’s a simple dream really, one which we Americans so often visualize as –

A country road leading to an empty plot of land.

Something incredible is about to happen on that plot of land, I hope. The goal is set at $78,000. Chive Charities has donated $25,000 for the country road to carve a broad swath of land back to a dream. UPDATE #2: 1:33pm – Just spoke to Justin, “I am sick as a dog, but so pleased. Thanks to theCHIVE and good people we have raised $30,000 in an hour for my mission.”

UPDATE #3: Donations coming in so fast we skipped over the $40k mark and hit $45,000 in a hurry.

UPDATE #4: 2:01pm – $55,000!!! Donations coming in at a rate of $846 ever minute and surging….
