Golf needs an injection of fun more than ever. Bill is the zeitgeist for his time. The sport is about to experience its renaissance from a family who truly loves the game, from a man synonymous with golf.

Everybody asks us, why now and why theCHIVE? It’s a family thing, a trust thing, more than anything. I can’t speak for Bill — those reasons are his own. Last year, a reporter asked if Bill’s role in golf was expanding? He replied, “The great Johann Rupert once said, ‘We have received more from this game than we’ve given to it.’ I thought that was something.” Bill smiled knowingly and walked away.

But if I could hazard a guess at the real reason why, I’d say Bill Murray’s doing it because if it inspires a few more kids to pick up their sticks that’s enough for him. And maybe some of the kids at the Mercy Home deserve the same opportunity. Today’s mini-launch is for them.
