Growing up, with grandparents that came from the border of Eastern and Western Europe, I was always afraid of being a bad kid during the holidays, and getting taken away from my family. Because that’s he European way. There’s no Santa, no reindeer; just evil demons who accompany St. Nicholas and scare the shit out of you.
Frankly, old-school European Christmas sounds more like Halloween than a happy holiday. But, why do these monsters haunt Europe and not America? There’s an interesting reason.
