Over the weekend, I noticed something interesting. Top Gun Maverick just had a monster second-weekend box office setting a record low dropoff from its even bigger opening weekend, at only a 32% dip from week 1 to week 2 as it raked in another 87 million. I have personally seen the film twice and there’s a lot to love about the movie from its aerial footage, the nostalgic callbacks to the original, the interesting new characters, the music, and on and on the list goes. But what I think makes the movie something that Americans need right now, is that it makes you feel proud to be an American. To me, that’s why people are thrilled to go see & support this movie — it makes viewers feel a genuine patriotic pride of our country and for our aerial superiority.
The pilots are badass. Our planes are world-class cool. The movie doesn’t get bogged down in trashing the military or America, pointing to our faults. There’s really no side political/social agenda that adds to the overall depressing climate we are drowning in lately. No. This movie just feels like a breath of fresh air as you pump your fist to Tom Cruise showing off some of the U.S.’s most advanced jet fighter planes.
Long story short, this got me to thinking just what are some other traits of the U.S. that Americans think are truly amazing. Enjoy this upbeat list below…
