The full extent of Harvey’s aftermath is coming into chilling focus today across Coastal Texas. More than 2,000 people have been rescued from their homes in Houston. It’s estimated that over 35,000 are in shelters, and 45,000 have been forced to flee from the flooding. As the death toll rises, Harvey is circling back out into the Gulf of Mexico to recharge its batteries, only to boomerang back into Coastal Texas with newfound intensity. The damage is — in a word —catastrophic.
Texas is our home. We aren’t going to sit idly by while our neighbors to the east get pummeled.
theCHIVE has already purchased a block of hotel rooms at the Westin in Austin to house evacuees from across Coastal Texas. But now it’s time to weigh in with a plan here, Chivers.
