I have little to no shame in admitting that like most people I watched ‘The Little Mermaid’ about a hundred times as a kid. It’s just a fantastic film, and let’s be honest, as a little boy seeing Ariel in that seashell bikini was a turn-on before I really understood what that even meant. But there is perhaps one glaring weakness that a lawyer named Shon Faye pinpointed that I had never noticed, and it revolves around the underwater legal system and the contract that our redheaded protagonist was guilted into signing by Ursula the Sea Witch. Shon took it upon herself to write out the legal advice Ariel should’ve been given all those year ago that could’ve made her life a whole lot easier.
