There are some great police blotter reports out there. But this one is so ridiculous that it’s hard to believe it’s true. It sounds like something straight out of an early 2000s comedy starring Will Ferrell.
But the star of this scene is not a Hollywood actor. He’s a first class petty officer in the Navy who was attempting to drive home from a bar near Camp Pendleton in San Diego. However, his vehicle was equipped with a breathalyzer interlock system, meaning the engine wouldn’t start until he could breathe under .08 into a built-in mouthpiece (a common punishment for DUI offenders).
This man was drunk and therefore could not start his vehicle. So, he decided to get someone else (or something else) to blow into the device for him.
