John and I would’ve flown to LA this week to sit down with another great guest, as you guys have come to expect from us. That is until we realized that the Cubs had a crack at history and doing the unthinkable — winning a World Series. We cancelled our trip and strapped in here in Austin for what we hoped would be an epic game 7. So before the game we thought what a perfect time to share how Chicago helped shape what theCHIVE would eventually become. The very name ‘Chive’ was derived from the ‘C-H-I’ in Chicago (the ‘V-E-‘ from Venice) and our eventual successes wouldn’t have been possible without the gifts that great city has afforded us over the years.
Today, John and I tell true tales from the early days of theCHIVE in Chicago. John describes his most recent trip to Chicago where he watched a World Series Game with the Murray brothers, and he paints the picture of a city that was both excited and a nervous wreck. Stories about how a few broke idiots partied and drunk-blogged late into the nights, dealt with early growing pains, and even how one Mac Faulkner got himself into a nightmare scenario involving a pair of cutoff jean shorts. It seemed like the perfect time to rehash some nostalgic humble beginnings in the windy city.
This episode is rightly dedicated to Chicago. And whether you’re a Chiver or are new to the site, we think you guys will get a kick out of our trip down memory lane!
