Actor and comedian Baron Vaughn is voicing the bubble gum headed robot, Tom Servo, on the cult-hit show Mystery Science Theater 3000 thanks to the biggest crowdfunding campaign ever launched. We talked to him about why a show featuring two robots & a human ripping on crappy B-movies makes for such an entertaining and satisfying experience. He also described what it’s like working with such iconic veteran actors like Martin Sheen & Lily Tomlin on the hit Netflix show ‘Grace & Frankie’ (a personal favorite of mine & my wife’s).
Baron also hit us with a few conversational curveballs like how the film ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ was actually created as a sequel to ‘Chinatown’ and what it’s like chatting with one Ian McKellen.
You can find stand-up tour dates, Podcast links, and more updates at his website. If you’re not watching Grace & Frankie on Netflix, I’m a huge fan and highly recommend it. And lastly be on the lookout for a completely new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the upcoming months!! Details are still rolling in as we speak.
And as always please keep sending all your bizarre questions, relationship-based OR otherwise, to be read and answered on the show at Podcastquestions@thechive.com
