Looking back, few moments in theCHIVE history have angered me more than Snapchat’s takeover of theCHIVE HQ in Venice Beach.
It wasn’t just the physical acquisition of the space by buying the building out from under us, but also what the thing symbolized – very much exclusive vs. inclusive ethos’.
theCHIVE had an open door policy on Ocean Front Walk. Veterans and first responders were free to come and go as they pleased. Chivers who shouted up to us holding bottles of bourbon were almost always allowed in. *Bourbon traditionally gets you everywhere you want to go with me.
